Don Bowers – Head Varsity Lacrosse Coach
Entering his seventh season as the head coach of St. Francis Lacrosse, Don Bowers has established the Golden Knights as one of the premier programs in Southern California. Under his leadership, St. Francis captured the 2021 CIF Southern Section Championship—the first in program history—and returned to the CIF Southern Section Finals in 2026, while consistently competing among the area's elite programs.
Coach Bowers has built a culture centered on accountability, discipline, and player development. During his time at St. Francis, 27 Golden Knights have continued their lacrosse careers at the collegiate level, including 15 student-athletes who have gone on to compete in NCAA programs over the past six seasons. His commitment to preparing players for success extends well beyond wins and losses, helping young men grow as leaders on the field, in the classroom, and in their communities.
Prior to arriving at St. Francis, Coach Bowers earned more than 100 career victories as a CIF head coach and developed a reputation as one of California's top teachers of the game. A native of Vermont, he was a four-year starter at Assumption College (NCAA Division II), where he led the nation in non-faceoff ground balls throughout his collegiate career. Following college, he played six seasons of professional box lacrosse and spent time with the Boston Cannons organization before dedicating himself to coaching and player development. He is also the founder of Ronin Lacrosse, one of Southern California's premier club programs.
When he's not on the lacrosse field, Coach Bowers enjoys spending time with family and friends. He and his wife stay busy with their two dogs and their one-year-old son—already a future Golden Knight. His passion for mentoring young men and building meaningful relationships continues to define the St. Francis Lacrosse program and its tradition of excellence.
